How do I respond to a discussion?
The forum is the place for discussions. You can read discussions started by others and respond to those discussions. How to get to the Forum page? You can click on Forum on the main taskbar to get to the forum or you can click on the discussions shown on the home page to get to the relevant discussions on the Forum. A forum can have discussions, or discussions can be grouped in categories of discussions. You can click on each of the categories to see the relevant discussions. Click on a particular discussion to read the message and reactions in case others have written reactions. You can reply to the original question by typing your response in the box under the text ‘reply to this’. If you want to respond to a reaction you have to click on ‘reply to this’ at the bottom of that reaction.
How do I start a new discussion?
The forum is the place for discussions. You can start a new discussion by going to the Forum page. You click on +add a discussion in the upper right corner. If the forum has various categories you can choose which category you want to place your discussion. Click on the relevant category first and then click on +add a discussion. You will get a screen with a box in which you can type your message.
- Type your message in the box. If you want you can add an attachment by clicking on ‘browse’. When you click on browse you can select a file from your computer.
- Type a title for your discussion in the ‘discussion title’ box. It is important to think of a clear title because the title will inspire people to read your discussion.
- You can add tag in the tagline. Tags are keywords that say something about the topic of your discussion. For instance ‘gender’ and ‘finance’. Tags can help later on to find discussions on relevant topics.
- When you’re done, you click on the green button with ‘add discussion’.
How do I add an attachment to my discussion?
When you are typing a response you can click on ‘upload files’ at the bottom of the box. You will see three lines with ‘browse’. When you click on browse you can select a file from your computer. Click on ‘open’ to add the file to your discussion. You can add a maximum of three files.
How do I add a picture to my discussion, replies or blogposts?
At the top of the box where you type your discussion, reply or blogpost you will find various icons (small images). If you click on this image you can add an image to your discussion or blogpost. You can upload an image from your computer or an image from the internet. If you want to insert an image from the internet you copy the link of that image. If you click on options, you have further options to place your image on the left or the right side etc.
Do I reply to a discussion or start a new discussion?
If you would like to raise a completely new subject it is best to start a new discussion. It will help people to notice your question. However, it is not possible to a make a mistake! There is no such thing as posting in the wrong place. And the facilitator can always help you to move the discussion to improve the structure of the forum.
I've read an interesting discussion a week ago but can’t find it now?
You can always use the search function to look for a topic that you can’t trace otherwise. You will find the search function in the black bar in the upper right corner.
